Overview
Completel Europe NV, incorporated in the Netherlands, was established in January 1998 to take advantage of the opportunities arising from the progressive liberalization of the European telecom markets. Since 2002, Completel Europe NV has concentrated its operations in France.
Its French subsidiary, Completel SAS is a national operator offering all telecom services to the business market and to operators and ISPs.
In 2006, Completel completed its expansion plan announced in July 2005, extending its pre-existing metropolitan access fibre networks with a national fibre backbone and an extensive DSL network, thus expanding its footprint from 9 to 110 metropolitan areas in France. The powerful combination of fiber access and unbundled DSL access allows Completel to triple its addressable market, covering most of French medium and large companies, the majority of French SMEs, and almost the entire French wholesale market.
Completel has the largest alternative metropolitan fibre access network and the 3rd largest DSL network in France and Completel is the only alternative operator with both a very large metropolitan fiber access network and a comprehensive DSL coverage of French businesses.
Completel’s strategy is to address the telecom needs of corporate customers, offering them differentiated services based on connections tailored to their needs: combined DSL and fibre services such as IPVPN, fibre only services such as LAN to LAN, and DSL only services such as VoIP services.
Completel also addresses the needs of the wholesale market, offering them traffic termination services and connection of their end customers to its fibre and DSL network. In 2006, Completel leveraged on its DSL network to develop “triple play” residential services for Darty and therefore entered indirectly the residential market.
